K501 Masonry Waterproofing Solution
(NB: Normal tests for membranes do not apply. Relevant
test data is listed below.)
SUITABLE SUBSTRATES
Cement/lime sand finishes, rough cast or pebbledash,
concrete, brickwork (excluding dense or semi glazed
engineering bricks), natural and artificial stone,
building boards and weathered asbestos cement sheets.
Warning: If efflorescence is present, consult LPL's
Technical Sales Department: damage may be sustained by
masonry due to salt crystallisation behind water repellent
treatments.
DURABILITY
K501 will last at least 10 years before its first
maintenance.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Resistant to mild acids (e.g. acid rain).
APPROXIMATE SOLIDS
CONTENT
3.6% by weight.
3.6% by volume.
Specific gravity: 1.00
DRYING TIMES
Approximately ½ to 1 hour at 20ºC./50% R.H. Lower
temperatures will progressively extend the drying time.
Initial water repellency is achieved from 1 hour; full
waterproofing properties are achieved from 24 hours.
DEPTH OF PENETRATION
Red facing brick circa 1 mm.
White concrete brick circa 3 mm.
WATERPROOFING
K501 applied to Tacboard. 6 cm. head of water after 24
hours.
Water absorbed 0.25 cm³ /cm².
Control (without K501) >6 cm³/cm².
Note: K501 is not intended for use where a
hydrostatic head of water is present. The purpose of this
test is to demonstrate the relative absorbency of treated
and untreated board in a "worst case" situation.
PACK SIZES
5 litres and 25 litres.
